The Research-Based Roadmap to Compersion

In this training, Dr. Marie Thouin will offer CNM people and their therapists/counselors critical understandings and tools to improve relationship satisfaction, security, and positive empathy, based on her research-based model of compersion.

Dr. Thouin will cover:
*What is compersion? Myths, Realities, Complexities
*What promotes/hinders compersion?
*How social and intersectional lenses impact compersion

We'll have discussion and time for Q & A as well.

Learning Objectives

  • Learners will be able to distinguish between two main ways that consensually non-monogamous individuals may experience compersion.
  • Learners will be able to list six factors that generally promote compersion in consensually non-monogamous relationships, and six factors that hinder it.
  • Learners will be able to describe some of the ways compersion may be impacted by social positionality, particularly considering factors of age, sexual orientation, gender, race, socioeconomic status, and (dis)ability.
